Extraordinary Women Conference

This weekend I had the privilege of traveling to Greenville, SC to attend an Extraordinary Women conference. It was great! My sweet husband was so great to let me go. He took great care of all 3 boys and had a busy weekend himself. Two baseball games (at the same time) and carting Caleb to and from work. Thank you Steve!

Friday night started with a concert by Chonda Pierce (Christian comedian) and then recording artist Jeremy Camp. It was rocking! Charles Billingsley led the praise and worship all weekend. He was fabulous too.

Saturday brought more music and gifted speakers. Precious Christian women who shared their heartaches and their triumphs through Christ. Sherri Rose Shepherd, Angela Thomas, Karen Kingsbury, and Lysa TerKeurst. And we had another concert by Matthew West. The day was busy and full with 5000 women praising and worshipping the Lord. I was blessed to be among them.

The theme of the weekend was Embracing Powerful Peace. I know that as a Mommy and Wife, I need some powerful peace from time to time. What I learned is that despite my circumstances, my peace is found in the Lord. Of course, I knew that, but it was good to be reminded once again. I learned some practical applications that I am trying to live out. I want to be a woman who not only relies on the Lord, but completely is changed by the Lord. I want people to see me, as one speaker put it, a "Jesus girl". I want to be consumed with the Lord. And I want that to rub off on the people around me. I want the Lord to be so evident in me that they can't help but notice Him and will look beyond me.

I had a wonderful weekend and was reminded that all I need is Jesus. He has, however, blessed me with a family, friends, and a ministry at Clayton Baptist Church. All of whom need Jesus.

Spring Break 2010

Another week of Spring Break has come and gone. We didn't do much except relax and enjoy being at home. We had gorgeous weather and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful week.

One day Keumele Keown and I took the kids to Tallulah Gorge State Park for the day. We enjoyed hiking a few trails and picnicking and just watching them play on the playground. They were pooped when we got home that night.

We were able to get the kids together again and just let them play together. They watched a movie, ate pizza, and played outside on the playplace. It was nice to let them just be kids. No pressures of school or even church. Just a week to be lazy.

Now we are back at school and Little League. Luke had a game tonight and Seth has one Thursday. We stay busy, but then most families do. Seth starts CRCT next Monday, so we are trying not to be too anxious about that.

Happy Birthday Luke!

On Thursday, Luke turned 5 years old. I can't hardly believe that my baby is now 5. I can remember finding out I was pregnant and of course, the day he was born. I love my children dearly and thank God that He has chosen me to be their mother. God has given me a true joy with Luke. He has also given me someone who requires not only my love and full attention, but often my discipline. It reminds me of my Heavenly Father and how He must feel with me. I receive God's full attention, love, and of course, the rod of discipline.

Here are a few pictures taken from his birthday. We had a special snack at school and then enjoyed dinner as a family with presents to follow. His Nana and Papa came up Friday afternoon and we enjoyed spending time with them this weekend while continuing to celebrate Luke's milestone. Now that the business of Easter and birthday are behind us, we can enjoy spring break. The kids are out of school this coming week and the weather is supposed to be beautiful.

Happy Spring Break!

Happy Easter

It has been a whirlwind weekend here in the mountains. Luke had an Easter egg hunt Friday at school which Steve and I both were able to attend. It was really cute to see 4 & 5 year olds running around trying to find the most eggs only to have to dump them all in a pile and count out 10 each. But that was fair to everyone.

Saturday brought Opening Day for Little League. We had to have Seth and Luke dressed in their uniforms and at the ball fields by 8:30 in order to be ready for the ceremony. Each child playing had their name called out with their teammates and received a Little League commemorative pin. Then we had to have team and individual pictures made. I had Seth and Luke's taken together, so I hope they will be good.

Then we rushed home, had lunch, and started preparing for Easter lunch. We have some dear friends who host an Easter Egg hunt at their farm each year. We were pleased to have been finished with Little League and able to attend. Seth and Luke had a ball running around and playing with their friends. It was nice to let someone else fix dinner for a change.

Sunday morning was a rush as Easter morning always is. The Easter Bunny came to visit and then we had to hurry off to church. I was playing with the  hand bells and Steve was singing a duet along with the choir. Caleb started usher duty that morning too. We were all a bit frazzled by the time church actually rolled around. But it was a nice service and we enjoyed the beautiful Easter weather the Lord provided. After church we had friends come over. We overate and then let the kids hunt eggs one more time.
