A Special Sunday

Today was a very special day in our family. One which I will mark on the calendar and celebrate for years to come. Seth joined Clayton Baptist Church this morning.

Seth has been prompting us with questions about Jesus and baptism and even the Lord's Supper for probably a year or so. Steve and I just didn't think that he was quite ready to make that decision yet. It's so important and we wanted him to have a firm understanding about what he was doing. So we put him off and decided that when he was ready, the Holy Spirit would prompt him and we would feel peace about this.

This past Wednesday, he and I were working on his AWANA book in preparation of that night's book time at church. One of the questions asked if the Lord was your Savior? I asked him if He was. Seth replied that yes. I told him that if he wanted to continue the conversation, we would talk with Daddy that night. After bath time, we sat down in Seth's room and talked about what it meant to be saved. What "sin versus sins" was and how baptism was a symbol of what Christ had already done in our heart. He understood and could articulate what it meant: we were so proud of him. It was hard to keep my tears in check. This has been the moment I have prayed for since I found out I was pregnant with Seth.

Today, during the invocation, he and I made our way to the front of the church. Daddy met us down there and we spoke with the Youth Minister, David Rogers, who was filling in for our Pastor. He made Seth feel comfortable and asked him a few questions and then prayed with us. During his prayer, I just had a peace about this decision. I know that God has set Seth apart and he will do his best to serve the Lord.

John 15:16 says " You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last."

Snow Day!

Last night we got a nice dusting of snow. It has been cold all week and they have been calling for snow. I am a bit skeptical and decided to just wait and see if anything really happened. It did snow, but not enough for the kids to get out and enjoy it. It is very cold though, still. It was 12 degrees and with the wind chill, it felt like 5!

There was no school today and the kids have made the most of it already. There has been lots of XBox 360 and plenty of pajama time. I anticipate watching movies and eating popcorn later this afternoon. It's nice being at home with nowhere to go.

What a start to the New Year

Happy 2010!

I can't believe we are now in the second decade of the 21st century. It seems like only yesterday it was ready to turn 2000.

After returning home from Valdosta and spending time with the Meadows' side of the family, I decided that we needed groceries. So, I went into the garage to get in the car and head to Ingles. The car had other ideas. It decided that it was way too cold and would rather stay in the garage. The battery was not just needing a jump; it was dead.

So, after much grumbling and gnashing of teeth, Steve decided that the battery would not come out of the car. I mean, it wouldn't budge. (We will check the battery placement on all future car purchases.) So today Duvall Chevy had to come and tow the Impala to it's service department. All for a new battery. Oh, and do an oil change.

Well now we need new tires. We knew that they were needing them soon, just didn't realize how soon apparently. So, in addition to a new battery, an oil change, and the towing fee, we are having 4 new tires put on the car.

Happy New Year to me!

Until next time.
